National Banana Cream Pie Day

It is hard to pinpoint the origin of banana cream pie, but many people think it came from the American Midwest, where pies have been popular for many years. Bananas used to be an exotic fruit. It wasn’t until the end of the 19th century, when advances in transportation made bananas easily available to the general population. That’s when the pie was introduced to everyone. In 1951, the Banana Cream Pie was named the Armed Forces’ favorite dessert.

The Banana Cream Pie is a work of culinary magic with old-fashioned custard pie; it is a combination of creamy vanilla custard, sliced bananas and fresh whipped cream layered in a graham cracker crust. Many chefs have made the pie with chocolate shavings or butterscotch drizzles. So, enjoy some Banana Cream Pie today!
