January 5th is National Whipped Cream Day in the United States! Whipped cream might just be one of the most overlooked items that we use for desserts. It is also known as “chantilly cream,” if you want to elevate the sound of the culinary experience when describing the elements of the dessert to your guest. I usually do not recommend buying this product, because it is so easy to make it fresh All you need is a cold bowl, heavy cream, sugar, and the flavor you want of the cream-like vanilla. Whip all of the ingredients with a whisk until it creates nice, fluffy peaks.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. of sugar
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1 tsp. of vanilla extract (optional)
Method
In a chilled bowl (glass or metal works best), pour in the sugar, cream and vanilla. Whisk until it creates stiff peaks. Whipped cream can be stored for up to 10 hours if needed, just re-whisk it for 10 seconds prior to serving.
