National Hot Chocolate Day is celebrated January 31 each year in the United States. The first recipe for hot chocolate is believed to have been created by the Aztecs, in which they day they put chili peppers in the drink. From there, hot chocolate spread across the world and, until the 19th century, hot chocolate was even used as medicine to treat liver and stomach problems.
In Spain, a nice cup of hot chocolate and churros is considered a working man’s breakfast. Now, that’s my kind of breakfast! There are many varieties around the world with some recipes adding cinnamon, sugar and other items into the hot chocolate, so experiment with this today as you and your passengers celebrated National Hot Chocolate Day!
